Service Description

Chisel & Dowel term classes are hands-on woodworking classes designed for students who want to build practical skills over time in a real workshop environment. Our term classes run through 6 set projects that teach core woodworking skills step by step. New students can start at any point and join the program with the next suitable project, while continuing students pick up where they left off from the previous term. This creates a flexible and supportive structure that works for both first-time students and those returning to keep building their skills. Across the projects, students develop confidence with measuring, marking out, machining, joinery, assembly and finishing, while also gaining experience with workshop processes, tools and materials. The classes are suitable for beginners with no prior experience, while also offering a clear pathway for continuing students to refine technique and take on more involved work over time. Rather than being a one-off workshop, these classes are designed to help students learn through repetition, practice and guided project work. Students progress steadily through the 6-project sequence, building confidence and capability in a shared workshop setting with support from experienced tutors. Whether you are completely new to woodworking, looking to get comfortable with tools, or wanting to keep developing your furniture and joinery skills, Chisel & Dowel term classes offer a practical, welcoming and skills-focused way to learn.
